ridiculous blather

So it gets a bit boring in Brandenburg sometimes and since I have lots of job applications and Fulbright questionnaires to fill out, it means I am looking for other ways to procrastinate.

I had a pizza party on Friday and everyone came to Brandenburg. Some of them for the first time. IT was a lot of fun to make homemade pizza and what not. But next time maybe I'll make it beforehand.

I would also like to blame my friends Bennett and Karen for the fact that I have joined several of these online dating websites lately. EHarmony, well, it sucks. I refuse to pay for it. I did get a rather interesting personality profile of myself, but other than that it seems to have matched me with a bunch of weirdo, arrogant jock types. Not that there is anything wrong with arrogant jocks, I guess, but it's just not the right match for me.

Therefore Karen suggested Okcupid. It's free. I can afford that! However, free means you get some very...interesting people. You basically answer questions that are on there and it randomly finds people who it thinks you might get along with. It seems more like one of those myspace/junior high surveys. But you know, free. So far I've actually been matched as a friend with one of my actual friends in Berlin, so I guess that's a semi-good sign. I've also been "favorited" by some weirdo Indian guy who wanted to IM with me. Not so good. New goal of revealing as little info as possible on that site while sifting through the freaks. It's even more helpful when they begin their profiles with "I wear all black leather" or whatnot.

Bennett joined Match.com and even went on a date through it. A good soul, she is. The date didn't work out, but I have now taken to emailing her date. That's what best friends are for, right? To play matchmaker? We'll see how that goes.

I've also watched Gilmore Girls and, like Mary Bess and I used to do, watch Rory for life tips. Her life's not so good anymore, so perhaps this is a bad choice. WWRGD? is still probably an ok motto to live by though.

Class on racial relations in the American south today went, well, awkwardly. But I guess it was overall ok. American literature went well. And the 5th graders acting out asking a parent for a new pet was probably the highlight of the week. "Mum, can I have a lynx? It's cute and can sleep in my bed!"

There is brief sunshine today. Must go bask.

Whoa, you must be on here at the same time as me!

Well, I've done Match.com and OKCupid, and I actually did meet a couple cool people, since they have the personality profiles. You just have to weed through a few weirdies first!

I might be a good soul (occasionally) but not because of match.com. I think all that makes me is a lonely soul. However, I must say I'm proud of us both for being ballsy independent women in attempts to take charge of our lives! Huzzah! P.S. I have random updates for
you--remind me later.

I haven't watched Gilmore Girls in a long time...what's wrong with Rory's life? Maybe I'll just look it up.

Your commentary on internet dating is fun. :)
