We have now gone through tech and opening night of All's Well That Ends Well and the season is in full swing and going through repertory now. This means I will have days free and shows at night for the most part. Of course this is also the time that my best friend moves out of Atlanta. Alas. I still have good friends here at GA Shakes and now more time to spend with them. We had our last opening night party last night...there was wrestling in oatmeal. I did not participate, but it was interesting to watch at least. I'm currently sitting backstage at All's Well. Yeah, that's how much I have to do during this show that I have time to write an entire blog entry uninterrupted. At least it's more productive than playing Sims, which is what I have been doing.
Here's a picture of the theatre if you want to have an idea where I work... It's an actual building but reminiscent of the tent they used to perform in
In Fulbright updates, I have been in contact with the school. They promise to find me housing, but they're having issues so far. I have found some backups just in case, but the whole idea of living on my own in a foreign country is still terrifying. The good news is, that I found out that I will be in charge of the English Drama Club at the school and have been given free reign to do what I want! That should be really great and exactly what I was working on in German seminar last semester. Sometimes things work out perfectly.
I also have been in email contact with other Fulbrighters who were in Brandenburg area this year. They've given some good advice, but it also looks like some of my fears will come true. They caution that there will be a lack of people my age since people moved out of the former East in droves after the fall of the Iron Curtain. They also mention that I will get to know a lot of adults, and will definitely improve my German since English may not be as strong where I'll be placed. I guess that's good that I will be of more use to them, but it's a little nervewracking. I think I'll be able to make it home for Christmas though, so I'll get to see family and new neice and all that jazz.
Your German phrase of the day: Ende gut, alles gut.
